Mrs. Ella Martin, 82, a Crawfordsville resident since 1951, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday in Culver Hospital, where she had been a patient for three weeks. Mrs. Martin had been ill a month prior to her death. She was a Linden resident until 1951. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Thompkinsville, Ky. Born Dec. 4, 1889, in Monroe County, Ky., she was a daughter of William S. and Betty Geralds Shirley. She married William F. Martin in June 1913. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Mabel) Peterson of Linden; a son, William D. Martin of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Cloy Shirley of Thompkinsville, Ky., and Smith Shirley of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and three brothers. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Helms Funeral Home in Linden with Rev. Willis Siphers officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.
